Gloria Arboleda, Medellín, Colombia, 1969.

Architect, Photographer.

For the artist, photography has provided a medium for exploring what lays beyond the view of a careless observer. Leaving behind stereotypes, she aims to dismantle preconceptions and unveil the authentic self of her subject by integrating herself fully into their geography. Studying the connection that binds residents to their natural world, through her watchful gaze she has managed to capture the essence of the culture and its people. Her projects explore themes of the effect of the surrounding nature in people’s livelihoods, and in turn, how they impact their environment.
